Interior Assembly

I decided to assemble and install the cars interior prior to painting the exterior of the car.  I put the carpet in first and then the console to make sure the manual 4 speed shifter worked ok since I converted the car from an automatic transmission. 

Next I installed the headliner which I thought would be an easy job but wasn't for me, it took 2 full days. After I prepped the headliner for install I stretched the front and back of liner and glued it in place, all looked pretty good. I next started stretching liner from side to side and also glued the sides in place, looking at the liner it looked pretty good,,, until I started moving my lighting and could see wrinkles everywhere. 

I then started pulling glued liner away and stretching it even more, I did this over and over till I got it as good as I could. I used a heat gun on medium heat to relax some of the wrinkles and am calling it good enough. If I were to do it again I would get a molded headliner. 

I upholstered the seats shortly after  I purchased the car. The seats installed easily and look good, however their not very comfortable. I replaced or repaired springs that were in bad shape and put in new foam on the some seats but even so there isn't much support.  The bucket seats back can lay forward so a person can get in the back seat but there are no adjustments other than sliding forward or back.  I think if I were to do it over I would buy customs seats that are more adjustable and comfort, but these are original....

I am surprised at how small the interior of the car is.  The ceiling height is so low you can't sit straight up in the bucket seats.  Getting in the back seat is difficult as well, its very confining almost claustrophobic.
