With the hood, trunk lid and cowl panel removed I started stripping the paint down to bare metal. I counted 9 previous coats of paint and primer were on the car. The hood of the car had no rust damage or dents that needed repair but there were holes for emblems that I would not be using so I welded them closed.
The car had been hit in the rear end and also had a golf ball size rust hole so I patched the rust and pulled the dents out. I hammered and dollied all dents to get the panel as close as I could to being straight and then filled the slight ripples with bondo. I sprayed epoxy primer and block sanded the metal and repeated until panel was straight. I finished this work with spraying a coat of thinned epoxy primer which was used as a seal coat. Now I can let the sealed parts sit until I spray coats of buildable primer and block sand again, followed by coats of base color and finally clear coat.
Back end of car is seal coated and ready for buildable primer
Trunk lid turned out good, fiberglass spoiler is going to take more work but I will work on the flaws when high build primer is sprayed on.
